Today I made a pillow box out of cardstock to hold an anniversary gift for my husband Sean. Our one year wedding anniversary was actually last November 13th, but at that time there were other things going on that distracted us from our anniversary so we didn’t do anything. After looking up the list of traditional wedding gifts, I decided it would be fun for us to come up with something unique, bought or handmade, from whatever material was on that list. Gifts for first anniversaries are paper (traditional), plastic (modern), and clocks (alternative).
My gift to Sean was a print on wood plaque by Cuddly Rigor Mortis (found at Shana Logic), but I needed something interesting to wrap it in. I got several colors of bright paper and started to make my own wrapping, but was not enthused by the outcome. Fortunately I remembered that we still had paper leftover from our wedding crafts. As gifts for everyone I made pillow boxes to hold candy and plastic skulls and zombies, so I made a larger pillow box and labeled it with the speckly green paper we used for invitations and stuck on a biohazard sticker. The second and third photos are of the actual pillow boxes from the wedding and our invitation. In case you’re wondering why on earth we’d use biohazard stickers for a wedding, we had a costume party wedding and we were zombies, plus it was on Friday the 13th…a lucky day for us. Truly, madly, deeply.
