This is the produce bag that I made a pattern for yesterday. I buy lots of produce and bulk food, so I end up with lots of plastic bags. They seem to multiply and I’m tired of them, so I’m making my own bags. This is my first bag prototype…I hope to create more styles, and join up with Sean to create some custom screen-printed bags.

So I’m not the first person to make a bucket-type bag, but I thought this might be better than the plain flat bags that fall over when you put anything heavy in them. I’ve seen reusable bags for sale, but they’re just squares folded in half with a draw string added and they look like they’ll fall apart after a few washings.

I’m sure my local co-op and My Organic Market won’t mind printed cloth bags, although they might be freaked out at the nearby Safeway, where they used to give me weird looks when I brought my own shopping bag.
